Overview

In this page you will find a detailed version of my resume. A shorter version

Extracurricular Activties

2010-Present
Neural associative memories with large pattern retrieval capacities This is the topic of my PhD thesis. We worked on applying the theoretical background in coding and information theory to design neural associative memories with exponential pattern retrieval capacity.

2014-present
Network tomography We are currently working on theoretical methods to estimate the connectivity of a simple model of a neural graph and compare the results with those of more realistic models.

2006-2009
Applications of Information Theory in Bioinformatic We worked on some approaches to model genome as a written book in some unknown language. We used information-theoretic approaches to show that the profile of the sequences match the structure of a sequence of "words" as in a natural language.

2006-2008
Modeling Conduction Block in Multiple Sclerosis One of my friends and I worked on modeling nerve as such transmission lines. We applied this model to analyze conduction block in nerve fibers as a result of diseases like multiple sclerosis.

Communication Systems

2009-2010
Information and Coding Theory In the early stages of my PhD, we worked on information theoretical aspects of fountain and LT codes, to show that an ensemble of random codes achieves capacity with high probability when the code rate is greater than a threshold. We derived a bound on this threshold for BEC, BSC and AWGN channels.

2006-2009
Quality of Service Network Coding During my M.Sc. studies, I worked on designing network coding methods to ensure QoS.

2007-2010
Bio-inspired Networking We expolited the similarity between the foraging behavior of ants and content discovery in P2P networks to design efficient rate allocation algorithms for media streaming over P2P networks.

Robotics

2004-2006
Motion Control Module for a Maze-Solving Micromouse As a member of Sharif University's maze solver micromouse team, I was part of the team to design and implement the motion control unit of the robot, i.e., trying to enable the robot to smoothly and rapdily move while avoiding collision with the maze's walls.

Honors
& Awards

Ranked 1st among more 400,000 participants in the nation-wide universities entrance exam (Concours), 2002, Iran. Ranked 8th among nearly 10000 participants in the nation-wide entrance exam for graduate studies in MBA, 2006, Iran. Ranked 1st among graduate communication systems students, Sharif U. of Tech., 2008. 5th Place, Technical Innovation Award and 1st prize in new comers of 24th International Micromouse competition, June 2005, Birmingham, UK. Ranked 3rd in the first national maze solver and line follower robotic competition, Winter 2006, Mashhad, Iran.

Hobbies

I am a different person when it comes to football! I love playing football, watching football, discussing football, in general any thing related to this magnificent sport! Besides that, I love philosophy and reading philosophical books (quite a mixture with football right?!). I also love driving without a purpose in country-side roads, just to see where they lead to, and take my word for it: they usually take you to astonishingly beautiful places (and some times dangerous!) where you would not believe they are in such close proximity!
And from my childhood, I have a deep passion for the night sky and photography (of the night sky!)
But above all, the most fun that I have is usually when with my friends we just hang out and discuss different things without a specific topic in mind (ok may be football has a higher priority than other topics!)
