Initially, the group consisted only of Amin and Natascha. 
Since both were new to the EPFL system, the first few months were spent with organizational tasks
such as figuring out the system at EPFL, purchasing equipment, interviewing doctoral candidates, 
system administrators, diploma and semester project students, and with scoping industrial partners.

Several months after starting the group, Giovanni joined as a system administrator.
His status changed later to that of a postdoctoral researcher.
