Prof. Tor Helleseth visited Algo during the Summer Research Institute in July
2006. He gave a talk about Sequences with good correlations and their
applications.
Mike is a co-founder and Chief Technology Office of Digital Fountain. He
visited ALGO in February 2004. Most of our research during that time
concentrated on Fountain Codes and their applications.
Leonard visited ALGO during July 2005 and participated in the "Summer Research
Institute" of EPFL.
Mehrdad was one of the first visitors of ALGO and LMA. He visited us in April
2003 to start a research project on applications of geometric graphs in coding
theory. Mehrdad is a professor of Mathematics at the Insitute for Studies in
Theoretical Physics and Mathematics in Tehran.
Alistair visited ALGO in July 2004 and participated in the "Summer Research
Institute" of EPFL.
Bernd visited ALGO in July 2003. During this time he gave several lectures on
applications of Groebner bases to Bayesian networks and linear programming.
Bernd is a professor of Mathematics at the University of California, Berkeley.
Amnon visited ALGO in August 2003. During this time we started a joint
research on applications of Coding Theory in Theoretical Computer Science. At
the time of his visit Amnon was an assitant professor of Computer Science at
Tel Aviv University.
Luca visited ALGO during July 2005 and participated in the "Summer Research
Institute" of EPFL.
Avi visited ALGO in July 2003. Besides collaborating on some research problem,
Avi gave a number of lectures on applied graph theory, and on locally testable
codes. Avi holds a joint position as a permanent member of the School of
Mathematics of the Institute for Advanced Study in Princeton, and the
Departmet of Computer Science of the Hebrew University of Jerusalem.
Prof. Wolf visited ALGO in July 2004 and participated in the "Summer Research
Institute" of EPFL.
Gilles is a professor of Computer Science at the ENST. He visited ALGO in
April 2004. During his visit we discussed in depth possible combinatorial
proofs of the stability condition for Raptor Codes. Gilles also gave a talk on
Expander Codes.

Jamshid visited ALGO and LMA in March 2003. During this time, we started a new
research project with the aim of designing fast multiplication algorithms for
binary polynomials of small degree in order to apply them to efficient FPGA
implementations of arithmetic in finite fields. At the time of his visit,
Jamshid was a graduate student at the Department of Mathematics of the
University of Paderborn.
Omid visited ALGO in the months of July, August, and September 2003. During
this time he worked for the most part on Fountain codes over general symmetric
channels. At the time of his visit, Omid was a senior undergraduate student at
the Computer Engineering Department of Sharif University of Technology in
Tehran.
Wei was visiting ALGO during July and August of 2003. During this time Wei
worked with Amin on LDPC-codes over q-ary symmetric channels, and on the
design of LDPC-codes that achieve the capacity of such channels via simple
decoding algorithms. At the time of her visit, Wei was a graduate student at
the Electrical Engineering Department of UC Berkeley.
Heydar visited ALGO for five weeks in the months of August and September 2003.
During this time he familiarized himself with the theory of LT- and Raptor
codes and implemented a graphical Java-animation for the decoding process of
such codes. At the time of his visit, Heydar was a junior undergraduate
student of Mathematics at the Shahid Beheshti University in Tehran.
Pulkit visited Algo in early summer 2004. During his visit he worked with Amin
on fountain codes on the erasure channel.
Elitza visited Algo during summer 2004. During her visit she worked with Amin
Shokrollahi on alternative methods for the calculation of the error
probability of the LT-decoder.
Ruzbeh visited Algo during February 2005. He worked on implementing graphical
tools for the visualization of the Huffman coding process.
Amir visited Algo during summer 2005. During his visit he worked with Amin
Shokrollahi and Payam Pakzad on information theoretic and graph theoretic
methods for bounding the number of output symbols of various degrees in an
LT-code used for transmission over a binary memoryless symmetric channel.
Tiago visited Algo from October to December 2005. During this time he studied
various decoding algorithms for Raptor codes.
Vighnesh visited ALGO during Summer 2008. During his visit, he worked on the
realization of a new decoding algorithm for Reed-Solomon codes. At the time of
his visit, Vighnesh was an undergraduate student in the Department of
Electrical Engineering, Indian Institute of Technology Bombay.
Pooyan visited ALGO from January to July 2008. During this period he did his
master thesis which was mostly on source coding with Fountain codes.
Azadeh visited ALGO during summer 2008. During her visit, she worked on the
realization of a fixed-point Fourier Transform algorithm without loss of
precision using cyclotomic fields. At the time of her visit she was a doctoral
student at the Audio Signal Processing at Helsinki University of Technology,
Finland.
Mohammad visited ALGO during summer 2008. During his visit, he worked on
algebraic approaches for the design of locally decodable codes. At the time of
his visit, he was a doctoral student at Department of Computer Science of
Princeton University.
Ehsan visited ALGO Jul-Oct 2008. During his visit, he worked on the bit
precision analysis for compressed sensing algorithms. At the time of his
visit, he was a PhD student in the department of Electrical Engineering at
University of California San Diego.
Marica visited ALGO in summer 2009. During her visit, she worked with Prof. Amin Shokrollahi and Masoud Alipour and implemented a Java application for differential multicast file distribution using Raptor codes.
