As the industry standard, partial response signaling is the main signal equalization and detection technique in the readback channel of HDD. There are different signaling mechanisms according to the recording density in HDD. In the project, you have to implement the magnetic recording channel of perpendicular recording, which is the popular magnetic recording technique in the HDD world.  And for master students, the computer simulation of partial response signaling should be done. you must construct a simulation platform based on basic MLSE detector or using iterative detector.

Prerequisites:  programming in c or matlab; priciples of digital communication and discrete signal processing.
